Tackle the Climate Crisis

The climate crisis is out of control. Floods, bushfires and heatwaves are threatening lives, homes and everything we love.

Queensland Labor has approved 38 new coal mines and 3,600 new gas wells since coming to power in 2015. Both Labor and the LNP have a plan to approve 37 more coal mines. Meanwhile, to keep Queenslanders safe, the renewable energy transition must go faster. The Greens will invest in publicly owned renewable energy to cut power bills while cutting pollution.

The Greens will:

  • Stop new coal & gas mines
  • Phase out thermal coal by 2030, and metallurgical coal & gas by 2040
  • Guarantee long term jobs and incomes for coal & gas workers
  • Invest $65B in new publicly owned renewables, storage and grid upgrades, achieving 100% renewable energy by 2030.
  • Cut power bills by $531 per year by abolishing private energy retailers and stopping public power companies from acting like profit-hungry corporations.
